Pilot sites
SE-Hydro pilots cover the main hydropower plant types found across Europe — run-of-river, high-head, reservoir-based cascade — and range from small to large. Each operates in a different context: the Mediterranean basin, the French Alps, the Tagus river, and the Western Balkans. This diversity ensures solutions are tested in real-world conditions across Europe, helping identify what works, what needs adjustment, and what can be replicated elsewhere.
Beyond the technical variety, the pilots also offer different entry points for innovation: from ageing infrastructure to stakeholder engagement, operational flexibility and multi-use water management.
